VMview Desktop Migration

We just started using VMview and now are migrating LUNs from one system to another. Any hints on moving linked clones and replicas around? Like I said we just started using them so rebuilding isn't a big deal but once up and running it would be nice to know how to migrate should we need to again.

Thanks

Just add your extra LUNs in and issue a rebalance command, it will then move Linked clones from LUN to LUN to balance out usage.

That's fine for adding but we are actually migrating so I need to move completely off of a LUN to the new LUNs. I did an svmotion to the new LUNs of the current desktops and they appear to be working fine, I then re-snapped my parent VMs and updated/recomposed my pools to a new replica snapshot and pointed to the new LUNs and the new provisioning seems to be working. The one issue I have is that there appears to be some replicas left behind and I would like to clean them up before we remove the LUN. I haven't found a good paper on managing replicas that would really be helpful.

We are currently in the process of doing the exact same thing. Is there going to be any papers written to demonstrate the best approach to this?

The replicas can be safely removed, once they are removed from the ESX servers View will cease to know about them
