Using Fibre Channel and iSCSI SAN at the same time on ESX (VI3)

If you have a fibre channel SAN attached to the Esx Server already, can you also attach an iSCSI SAN such as EqualLogic on that same ESX server.

I know that you cannot use the Harward Initiator (HBA) at the same time with the fibre channel.... which would make the answer to my question a NO.....

So the question is, can you use the VMware Software Initiator on the esx Server to communicate with the iSCSI SAN while you already have a fibre channel SAN attached?

Has anyone tried doing this?

I don't have my training material on hand right now but, if I recall correctly, there is a section in the VI3 Student Workbook which discuss using fiber and iSCSI at the same time.

According to the VI3 Student Workbook it is possible to have both Fibre Channel and iSCSI HBA's in the same ESX server, but having them point to the same LUN is not a supported configuration. (module 4, page 40)

Therefore, I will be able to move VM's virtual disks from the Fibre channel SAN to the iSCSI SAN (EqualLogic).

Thanks..
