Storage Vmotion - Planning steps ?

Folks,

I need your help. I have never setup Vmotion, forget about storage Vmotion. Thanks to God- I am getting a chance to setup this in a test environment.

Please let me know, what I need to have and what are the points, that I need to take care to implement this. I could have done research and got all the pointers to set this up. But, I am short of time, and very soon the whole setup will be taken away from me.

Thanks

I am at http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/vi_pages/vi_pubs_35.html but, I dont see any administrators guide for Vmotion. There are couple of other Administrators guides, but they are for Update MAnager, Converter Enterprise.

Am, I seeing at a wrong place ? Sorry for this.

Thanks

Ok,

I have created a setup...

C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware VI Remote CLI\bin>svmotion.pl --server 10.20.120.178 --username administrator --password XX --vm Xp_on_store/Xp_on_store.vmx:godown

Required command option 'datacenter' not specified argument to --vm is not in the correct format.

My server has 2 datastore - store and godown. I am trying to move the Xp_on_store to godown. But, when I try this, I get a error message. It seems, the storage Vmotion command is bit confusing and the RCLI is not that helpful for svmotion. I have seen other commands, they are bti easy to decrypt Smiley Wink

Thanks
