Setting up VMotion

Hi I hope someone can help me.

I have eventually managed to get funding for 3 servers to go to ESX enterprise.

First step I want to achieve is setup VMotion between these 3 servers.

They are all 8-way servers using the same CPU family type & are configured identically.

I have setup a new VLAN for Vmotion (all out networks are kept seperate via VLAN), 10.5.99.x.

I have created a VmKernel portgroup for use by Vmotion but when I go to add its gateway I get the error "Unable to set VMKernel gateway address to 10.5.99.1 as there are no VMkernel interfaces on the same network with that IP address."

Service console is on a seperate NIC & VLAN to that being used for VMotion.

Does anyone have any ideas what I need to do to get this working.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul.

What addresses have you allocated for your two vMotion/vmkernel interfaces ?

Hi Paul,

If at all possible, could you please tell me what the issue was with your VMotion VLAN? I'm having the exact same problem: Same error trying to set up VMotion on a new VLAN.

Thanks!!!
