Dual Xeon E5645
48GBs RAM DDR3 Reg

Adaptec 6405 + Adaptec Flash Module 600 (AFM 600)

Any recomendations or advices? Are componets is works in vmware?

since it's whitebox and not supported officially from vmware's HCL, you can refer to: http://www.vm-help.com//esx40i/esx40_whitebox_HCL.php & http://ultimatewhitebox.com/forum/showThread/500

then no one has tested and post the results into the website, you might be the first. i would advise buying those that are officially supported at here: http://vmware.com/go/hcl else it would just your luck to see if it works or not.

Hello,

This site only talks about 2 supermicro systems however as we are talking about a new server hardware so it should work right? I only have doubt with the Adaptec 6405. Adaptec only have drivers for ESX 4.1 (http://www.adaptec.com/en-us/downloads/vmware/vmware_esx/productid=sas-6405&dn=adaptec+raid+6405.htm...) its works with free esxi version? Its recommend install 4.1 or the newer version 5.0 is the better? Or VMware vSphere Hypervisor?

Is the best install VMWare in a single SSD or in a raid?

Thanks,

hi, with whitebox it's really down the luck (normally i do not see much problem with motherboard it's more towards network card getting detected). the drivers is for ESX version of 4.1 in which ESX does not exist (only ESXi) hence you might not be able to use it own ESXi version. here is a link showing a realtek card working on ESXi 5. http://www.vm-help.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3352

Hello,

My board use Intel® 82576 Dual-Port Gigabit Ethernet Controller and supported system in vmware site, SYS-6036ST-6LR use the same nic so it should work right?

About right version of vmware, i have read this in vmware faq, exists any free version to support 48GBs RAM?

How much vRAM does a VMware vSphere Hypervisor license provide?

vSphere Hypervisor license provides a vRAM entitlement of 32GB  per server, regardless of the number of physical processors. vSphere  Hypervisor can be used on servers with maximum physical RAM capacity of  32GB.

PS. Regarding this, http://communities.vmware.com/message/1807041#1807041 my board works fine Smiley Happy

if your board is supported in v4, chance it might work in v5 is there. also your network card is supported in v5 too. the free version supports up to 32GB Virtual RAM and Physical RAM.

unfortunately No. you can use back version 4.1 in which support up to 256GB

As written no.

And go back to ESXi 4.x could be difficult, if you do not have a key for it (you cannot ask for it anymore).
