Seeking a solution to manage Hard Disk space on ESX servers.

Hi,

I am looking out for a nice solution to manage the free space across various ESX servers.

I will be installing ESX servers on say 5 machines( 4 GB RAM, 2 Dual core intel processors, 750 GB hardDisk) . I will be running two VMs on each of the ESX servers.

I need an efficent way to manage the Hard Disk space across all the ESX servers. How can i centrally manage the Disk space on the ESX servers?

Will the VirtualCenter 2.5 help me with this issue?

-Swaraj.

Hello,

This really depends on what you mean by manage?

--- Report of used/unused space? Nagios using SNMP/NRPE. VI Perl Toolkit. VC

--- Alarms when X% of space is used? Nagios with SNMP/NRPE. VI Perl Toolkit.

--- Management of where VMs are moved, etc based on disk IO? VC
