Hi, we are evaluating HP MSA2000/P2000 Storage against Storage-Virtualisation (Datacore) for a smaller Environment (vSphere Essentials Plus).
I'm would like to know the Limitations of the MSA2000/P2000 Storages to be able to position that right against the (more costly) Storage-Virtualisation Approach.
So far I have read, that only 16 Disk per Raid-Group are possible. From the MSA2000i (Non-G2) I also know, that it is not possible to do an Online-Migration of Raid-Levels, e.g. Raid1 to 10 or 5. Does anybody know, whether this is also true for the G2 and the new P2000-Series ?
The Option for Replication is also only asynchronous with scheduled Snapshots, is this true as well ?
As the Units are rebranded Dot-Hill Units: Is it possible to use "Standard"-Drives in these Dot-Hill Units and save some bucks or do they also sell their own units with special firmware ?
