Qlogic ISP2432 not on ESX 4 HCL?

I need to buy a second FC HBA for each of our 5 x hosts and we currently have Qlogic ISP2432's. In checking the ESX 4 HCL I don't see them shown? It does show up for all versions of ESX 3.5 on up to U5 but not ESX 4.

This is a pretty standard HBA, am I missing something here? I'd hate to think I have to replace all of our HBA's.

Thanks for the feedback. My concern is if I start having issues and call VMware there response to running unsupported hardwae may not be good. What i don't get is that this is a very common HBA and was hipping in Dell servers as recent as a few months ago. So I cannot figure out why they wouldnt be supported.

I would check your /var/logs/vmkernel logs - mine show errors galore with FC connectivity to an EMC CX3. Seems that (possibly) the failover software on the hosts is requesting the trespass of the luns on the SAN causing mega performance issues. I never had this with 3.5, only after vSphere 4 upgrade and stupidly not checking the HCL well enough... Smiley Sad

we use IBM/Qlogic QLE2460 which is based on isp2432 chip, which is listed in HCL

First, I was in shock, just like you - it's a pretty new model, right?

So, appearently VMware changed several names for the HBA representation.

The following article contains the new names:

Our cards are now branded as IBM

39R6525 and the old name is QLogic QLE2460. To find out this name (it does not appear in the GUI of the client), you can enter the following command (you'll have to change the card number to fit yours):

cat /proc/scsi/qla2xxx/3

Good luck!
