NTP Configurations

When configuring an Esx host to take advantage of NTP do you add references to 0.vmware.pool.ntp.org, 1.vmware.pool.ntp.org, and 2.vmware.pool.ntp.org as described in the KB article or do you substitute your own time servers? In the past I've always removed the previous references but now I'm wondering if that's a good idea.

I have always referenced our own internal NTP devices.

I do the same. I think it is best if everything uses the same time source.

for me it depends on the customer, but normally i always try to use the ntp-pools, it offers a lot more redundancy.

Hello,

I sink to an internal source that in turn syncs to an external source. This way if the network is ever down I do not loose the necessary internal time sync. Be sure the internal machine is a physical machine that is NOT an ESX server for security reasons.

Best regards,

Edward
