Hi
How can you move a vm machine from local storage to shared storage? I have a vm server that has been configured using local storage but have since setup SAN storage and would like to move my existing vm server to this.
I've had a look but can't seem to find out whee or how to do this.
Any advice greatly received.
Thanks
Andy
Try to migrate the VM (to another Host in the same datacenter), and when prompted to keep or move the VM configuration files select move and choose your SAN storage.
What product/version are you using? If you have Storage VMotion available, you can move the VM with no service interruption.

Hello,
For just about any VMware Product you can use VMware Converter to perform such a move. If you have Virtual Center for VI3/ESX or VMware Server you can use the migrate feature to move the VM from any location to another. Or if you search the forums there is a Move VM script that can be run from the command line.
These additional options require your VM to be powered off.
