Move a VC 1.31, ESX 2.5.1 to ESX 3.5 up3

Hi,

We have an old ESX and a new one, the two are compleatly sepatated, own SAN etc,

Now we what to convert all VMs in the old one to the new ESX 3.5,

VMware converter does not support VC 1.3.1,

How do you recommend to migrate this VMs to the New one? trird party tool?, upgrade the old ESX?

Is it possible to just upgrade VC to 2.5 ánd leave the old ESX without upgrade and use converter?

Please advice me

Thanks in advance

Your first step is check out the upgrade guide - http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_35/esx_3/r35u2/vi3_35_25_u2_upgrade_guide.pdff - this should have all the information you are looking for -

Don't treat the vm as a virtual machine. Point converter to the vm directly as if it were a physical machine, and do your conversion that way. This is easier than trying to upgrade the host, especially for a few vm's.
