Is there a way to measure the disk I/O of a virtual machine as well as the host. In 2.5.x via the console you could visually look at the "hard disk" icon for a very quick view of how active the disk is. I 'm looking for either a program that can be run within the VM to see the level of activity.
thanks,
pete
Do you have Virutal Center? There you can see disk activity for your VMs.
From inside VM you can use spotlight it gives a lot of information.
I have a Dell Poweredge 6850 8cpu x 3ghz. Its currently running about 10 very I/O intensive VMs-(full system9 product suite). My question is looking at the attached graph do disk I/O levels look within in range of expected behavior.
thanks,
Where is the graph?
What king of storage do you have?
Have you tried running "esxtop" from the console or cli? This will give you the stats for both the host and vm's.
