Hi, I have been asked to take a look at an existing implementation of VI3, I come from a background of visiting customer sites and installing new clusters setting them up from scratch and then handing them over, I'm also a vcp so like to think I know what I'm doing.
I am quite a regular visitor to the forums and know there are some truely amazing experts on here, great job guys.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any software of any tips on taking a look at an existing infrastructure and basing it on best practice to make a recommendations report. I have used Veeam reporter before and am happy with this for documentation but was wondering if there was more of a capacity type reporting tool ?
Thanks for your time.
Alan
Hey,
You can run the ESX healthcheck script from sourceforge...
Or this thread mentions the use of Veeams Reporter.

Thanks, Veeam gives me a nice diagram of how things look and the script will only give me a server by server health, I was wondering if there was some kind of overall VC healthscript which told me how much resources were being used etc, just being lazy really rather than using the console and noting down figures into excel.
Does anyone have a doc they can share with me, why re-invent the wheel !
The areas I was going to look into off the top of my head are:
ntp
snapshot control
firewall
snmp
vSwitches
Version of ESX (Latest?)
Security Report
Current Servers
Current Setup
Capacity of
- Storage
- Memory
- CPU
Thanks to KjB007 for pointing me in the correct direction, I now have a great document and a template to use for the future.
