Hi,
We've been happily virtualising almost everything we can, but we've lost our confidence with this one:
Are there any issues with virtualising our main DHCP server - making it a guest on an ESX installation. Server is just a plain Windows 2003 Server with DHCP service - serves about 1000 addresses.
We use 2 x ESX 3 with Equallogic storage, and several Virtual Server hosts.
Our Servers have a mixture of static and DHCP addresses, depending on their function. Thin Client devices are all DHCP.
Our DNS and AD servers are all virtual already.
Thanks,
Daniel.
I have virtualized dhcp servers at most of our branch offices. I havent experienced any problems with it. I would go ahead and virtualize the DHCP server. It is
a great virtualization candidate.

Seconded.
I've virtualised many DHCP servers ranging from a few subnets upto several hundred load balanced across a few VM's.
Never ran into an issue yet.
We have also had multiple dhcp servers running as virtual machines, no issues at all. Think it is a good idea, we have always looked to virtualize as many servers as possible to take full advantage of what vmware and virtualization.
