Hello,
we want to implement an Active Directory PRE-Live environment on virtual machines.
It is an evironment where no developing is done. Generally it will be used for user acceptance tests.
We have to provide this topics:
-Restore a former or newer releases of Active Directory if user acceptance is not succesfull (failure of extension AD-schema). This means that I have to restore a group of VMs, because in a AD-Environment there are many depending systems (DNS, DHCP, MailServer, Proxy etc..)
In my opinion LabManager would be perfect for this intention. On the other hand LabManager doesn´t support DRS, HA, VMotion etc.. (see this discussion http://communities.vmware.com/message/809526). Not sure if I can achieve the aims without LabManager, but only VI 3.
Any advices?
Thanks in advance

You can restore a bunch of VMs with just standard VC and ESX, they just don't have a nice automated way to deploy the whole group at once. If this was the only thing you were going to use Lab Manager for then it might not be worth the cost. Personally I would like to get Lab Manager to move some of the administrative overhead to the developers and let them deploy and manage their own development environments.

go with ESX + VirtualCenter.
LabManager is thinked for Developing (writing code, testing sw in different environment) not for Testing Infrastructure.
