Accessing VMFS volumes from remote machines

I apologize if my questions seem like I am green on this topic, I am. Let's say I use VMconverter to convert a machine to a VM, what is the best way to copy the contents to the VMFS volume. I am reading the Server Config guide to find it but if someone can provide a quick and easy answer I would greatly appreciate it.

Sometimes with WinSCP it will not rename your file after it's copied to the ESX system and remove the .filepart extension.

you can issue this command to manually remove it;

mv filename.extension.filepart filename.extension

That's really the only thing that I've personally run into so far.
