When will we see the release of 3.0.2 ? Any new features ?
Best Regards, Magnus
I had a customer log a SR recently for a HA issue, the support engineer who handled the case told us that 3.1 would be released in July 07, so here we are.!
bring it on...
Let's hope for an announcement real soon now
Definately appears it will be coming out sometime in July as Lab Manager 2.5 states it will support 3.0.2 and is slated to RTM in July http://www.virtualization.info/2007/07/vmware-reaches-lab-manager-25-release.html
Any news? 3.1 or 3.0.2
interesting to see patch releases coming out for v2 and not V3, is this because the major release is coming soon..?
There is a reference to ESX 3.1.0 in the VMware Fusion RC1 getting started guide that indicates that it will use virtual hardware version 5.
I believe Workstation 6 is virtual hardware version 6 and ESX 3.0.x is virtual hardware version 4... so I would imagine that 3.1 will have functionality somewhere in between.
Based on the fact that VMware hasn't released ESX3 patches for almost 2 months now (and normally did once a month). I would say they are very busy launching something new.

Close but not quite once per month: http://www.vmware.com/download/vi/vi3_patches.html#c4310
we'll, there's 3 new patches for 3.01 out today including a couple of long awaited rescan fixes.
...just realised I posted the same URL as above...

Ha ha, just crossed my post I guess.. I've double checked the VMware site yesterday.
It, however are only 3 relevant fixes so no minor (bug) fixes.
Maybe there's some little hope in the release of 3.1 anyhow
I don't think those patches are relevant for a new 3.x release. For example ESX 3.0 and 2.5.4 are still being patched because some people want only the minimal fixes and no new features. And with 3.0.1 this will be the same.
I really, really hope it is soon. We have not experienced any issues with the 3.0.0 build-27704 hosts we have. So, I am waiting on the 3.1.0 rollup (or probably reinstall).
does anybody know if the subminor releases are used as rollup releases?
just to bundle every fix there is as a minor?
and minor releases to use for new functionality?
Lately I have been told (by a VMware technician) that there won't be any new features in 3.0.2, and that it will be released "very soon" (whatever this means).
In 3.1 there will be new features. It is currently in non-public beta, but probably won't be released before next VMworld (Sep 11).
So, at least this time your assumption is correct.

I have similar things about 3.1 and know it recently went to non-public beta as you were saying.

Long awaited and successful rescan patches. Now I can scan for new LUN's without brining my 6850's down.
ESX3.0.2 is released now. Please check out from vmware.com
Hooray......
at least this should make "epping" happy.. off to kill my network downloading this now.
