Sure there is... those of us yet to see any info can just make stuff up!

I'd like to hope that the Dmotion functionality will be expanded. My guess has been that VMware only had sufficient time to test it for 2.5.x -> 3.0.1 migrations before the 3.0.1 release date, and supporting ESX2 -> ESX3 migrations was most important. IMO, VI3 should have never been released without this functionality.

Extending live disk migrations to 3.0.2 -> 3.0.2 should be included in this release. It'd be a shame if not.

A support representative just added this interesting comment to his mail:

"Either way the ESX 3.0.2 update is released in June which contain all the necessary patches and bugfixes."

Let's see ...

Luckily he didn't mention what year,

otherwise that could have been interpreted as a release date... Smiley Wink

This is a very good thing. Right now it takes about 10 minutes to install ESX and then it takes about an hour to install all of the updates with an automated script.

I think when it takes longer to install the updates it is time to release them in a bundle and make a new install ISO available. Smiley Happy

based on previous experience, 3.02 will probably not contain any significant new features...

Any news about the release date of 3.0.2? We will start a rollout of 3.x soon and the 3.0.2 release would be much easier to deploy as 3.0.1 with all the patches Smiley Wink

Would be helpful if anyone did know the release date as I'm trying to put off patching our hosts. I do not fancy applying 30+ patches to every host.

Thanks,

Nick

amen to that, I don't care about any additional features in 3.0.2, just put all the patches in.
