What are your 2022 plans for certification?

Hello all,

I've been a vSphere admin for a number of years now and have finally taken the leap into certification over the last few years. I took the vSphere Design v7 class in December 21 and passed the exam on 1/3. I have recently ordered to build out my lab so I can work my way through the exam guide for VCAP-DCV Deploy.

My goal is to have the VCIX-DCV completed by June/July of this year, and afterwards, I think I'd like to work on automation and NSX-T, or Tanzu/Kubernetes. With my lab built out and a VMUG Advantage membership, I believe I could get deep into anything I wanted.

What are you all planning on trying to accomplish for this year?

Our VMware resident helping with our Horizon deployment has like 7 VCAPs. He kept on pushing me to take the exam since I've been working with VMware products for 10 years now. I was always scared of certification tests. I eventually gave way just to get him to stop asking me to so I went ahead and took the VCTA-DCV.  A week later I took the VCP-DCV.  I was so happy I finally got the VCP-DCV I always dreamed of getting and just wanted to stop there. But since he's studying to re-certify for his VCAP-DCV deploy, he told me to study with him and try for the exam.  Not sure if I will as the cost of that exam is a Playstation 5!

First goal was to recertify for CCNA CybeOps which I was able to do with doing the CCNA exam.

Second goal was VCAP NV Deploy (as the VCAP NV Deploy based on NSX-T exam has finally arrived after some time in the process) - to prepare for it and take the first try by the end of August. Although I did not have that much time to prepare, I actually managed to pass the exam on a first try (a major factor of the success is due to the fact I'm working with NSX-T on daily basis).

Till the end of the year I have to do vSAN Specialist exam nd HCI Master Specialist.

Right now I'm preparing for VCAP NV Design to complete the VCIX NV. The rest will depend on how successful I'll be with the before mentioned exams or how much sleep I'll be able to sacrifice 🙂 - K8s in connection with NSX (just knowledge), Python and CCNP R&S.

Very ambitious! I wish you the best of luck! A little of topic, but I am working on my CISSP.

I will add modestly for myself; I will take a break for 2023. I passed: VCP -VMC/DCV/NV/CMA and VCAP-DCV (Deploy+Design) = VCIX-DCV
