What are your 2022 plans for certification?

Hello all,

I've been a vSphere admin for a number of years now and have finally taken the leap into certification over the last few years. I took the vSphere Design v7 class in December 21 and passed the exam on 1/3. I have recently ordered to build out my lab so I can work my way through the exam guide for VCAP-DCV Deploy.

My goal is to have the VCIX-DCV completed by June/July of this year, and afterwards, I think I'd like to work on automation and NSX-T, or Tanzu/Kubernetes. With my lab built out and a VMUG Advantage membership, I believe I could get deep into anything I wanted.

What are you all planning on trying to accomplish for this year?

Congrats on your accomplishments, it's always great to achieve things like that.

I'll be doing my VCP-DCV (in a week actually) this year.

That's great! Good luck to you. Any plans after DCV? Are you getting it for better job opportunities?

I wonder how I can enroll online class to satisfy the VCP requirements?

@fibermind

Choose the technology area on the left, select the VCP, look at the training requirements, register for the online class you need to complete.

I committed myself to a year of certification.
Got VCP-DCV, Nutanix Certified Professional (As our VMWare runs on Nutanix), CCNA, Cisco Wireless Design Specialist, and hopefully CCNP Enterprise next month. After that, I think I’m going to try for VCP-NV and use the Cisco certs as the qualifying training.

Good luck anyone studying for certs!

Hi,

Agree with you - NSX-T and Tanzu paths will be interesting. I'm going to go same way.

I managed to pass the v7 VCAP Deploy exam a month ago, and it was so freaking hard! I now have the VCIX-DCV badge and am looking at NSX-T classes. Good luck everyone and keep up the hard work!

I just took the VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V7] on May 2nd. It was a great class. It was my first in person training event in two years. Now I'm working on studying to pass the exam for certification.

I am considering the VMware vSphere: Optimize and Scale [V7].

I did the 5-day instructor led Install, Configure and Manage v7 recently, ...and realized pretty quickly that the lab environment for ICM7 was also pre-configured and suitable for Optimize and Scale v7 labs too.  The instructor stated that we had access to the lab environment on the evenings of the ICM7 course, ...so I quickly sourced as much training material about the Optimize and Scale v7 as I could find, ...and I completed it on the evenings of the ICM7 course. I feel like I got two courses for the price of one, and went on to pass VCP-DCV 22 certification well. I'm not recommending this course of action for everyone, or suggesting it's always possible, ...but just factually stating what I did and that it worked well for me. 😄

My focus will be on NSX-T. We are starting down this path and made a commitment to migrate our datacenter. It's a whole new world to learn for me.

Wow, Congratulations!!

I passed the VCP-DCV 2022 exam and the VCAP-DCV Design 2022 so far this year, so the goal is to get the VCAP-DCV Deploy 2002 before the end of the year and earn VCIX-DCV 2022 badge. I hope I can, but I'll try.

After having put certs on hold because the world stopped.

I'm keen to start the journey toward vcdx. Gotta go from VCP to VCAP and hopefully VCDX in 2023.

Its a pity that you have to attend classes as i've been in the field for a long time, but we must.
