Dears,

I have created 2  VMs on ESX 5.0 platform and i have created SQL cluster ( OS : windows 2008 R2  with sP1 and SQL server 2008 R2 with SP3).

The cluster is failing over with the below  windows system  event :

Event ID 6: An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably. The Registry could not flush hive (file): '\??\C:\Windows\Cluster\CLUSDB'.

Event ID 57: The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur.

Kindly note that i am using RDM disks  for shared storage and  VMXnet3 Nics

need your assistance to check this issue.

1. Event ID 6

Ans: This issue can be caused by low resource while using virtual machine or expand the virtual memory under the server OS.

To alter the virtual memory settings:

1.Right-click the Computer icon on your desktop, and then click Properties.

2.Click the Performance tab.

3.Click Virtual Memory, and then click Let me specify my own virtual memory settings.

4.Click the hard disk that you want to use for virtual memory, and then select the minimum and maximum amounts of virtual memory.

5.Click OK, click OK, and then restart your computer.

NOTE: If necessary, you can restore the original settings. To do so, repeat steps 1 through 4, but click Let Windows manage my virtual memory settings (Recommended) in step 3

2. Event ID 57: The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur.

you can run the Chkdsk tool from the command prompt without shutting down the computer first.

Click Start, click Run, and then type cmd. At the command prompt, type “chkdsk /R /X Drive”. Chkdsk runs and automatically repairs the volume. Repeat this step for each volume on the disk. If the following message appears, type Y. “Cannot lock current drive. Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts?” The next time the computer is started, Chkdsk will automatically run.

Hope it fix your problem..
