why is there both esxcli and vim-cmd?

Hi!

I have no clue if this is the correct forum, but anyway...

Those two commands, 'esxcli' and 'vim-cmd [hostsvc]' seem kinda similar, and they overlap.

So what is the overall difference? When should i try to use on or the other?
Is one of them about to be deprecated? Is one a remnant from ESX (not ESXi)?

To avoid that engineers create esxcli AND vim-cmd you would need one master-mind and a vision that looks ahead a few years.
Nothing like that was at work here ....
Dont think too much about it ..
