why esx 4 are using multiple linux partition

Hi all,

I have one qustation to all of u why esx 4 are using multiple linux partition. At the booting time if ( must be because on grub.conf there is no option for vmkernel this is same as linux os grub configaration) esx4 is booting with linux 3 kernel then /dev/sda1 (boot partition) is Linux is ok with me . but what are the use of other linux partition like /dev/sdb2 and /dev/sdb5.

i have got my answare. theree partition is

[root@esxtest vmware]# df -h

/dev/sdc5             4.9G  1.6G  3.1G  34% /
/dev/sda1             1.1G   82M  945M   8% /boot
/dev/sdc2             2.0G   41M  1.8G   3% /var/log
