Installed VMware ESXi4.0 on a server and vSphere Client on a WinXP machine.
I now need vSphere Remote CLI for windows.
There is a link for that on the webpage of the ESXi4.0 server pointing to
URL http://www.vmware.com/info?id=999
But this website leaves only choices for VMWare vCenter downloads
and VMware vSphere Client and Host upd. Utility.
Where is the windows vSphere Remote CLI .exe ???
sorry typing error: info?id=599 instead of 999
but the questions remains...
Hello.
You can get it here.
Good Luck!
OK this is a direct URL, but might be in a few months an invalid URL ...
Where exactly is that to be found if you start from http://www.vmware.com / support&downloads etc...
I looked all arround in this forest of products, but can't find it ...
Instead of going through the downloads, why not use the vCLI's homage page: http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vcli/ <--clear download link

Same thing goes as with the direct URL - these instructions may not be valid in a few months.
Thanks I have the CLI tool, now I am having trouble working out how to use it properly.
While using ESX4 i would simple ssh in and run the commands i needed to run. Now i am moving to ESXi and dont want to use the not so secret unsupported console...
the commands i would run are like the following...
esxcli nmp satp setdefaultpsp --psp VMW_PSP_MRU --satp VMW_SATP_DEFAULT_AA
esxcfg-advcfg -s 14000 /VMFS3/HBTokenTimeout
But how do I run these with vCLI?
Take care

Actually, you run it exactly the same as you would when classic ESX Service Console. Some of the syntax may have changed but majority of it is the same and VMware even named the commands exactly as those on the ESX Service Console, you're just now remotely connecting to a host or vCenter to issue the commands and using the vSphere APIs to manage/configure your ESX(i) hosts.
Just pass in "--help" and you'll get a list of options and be sure to go over the vCLI documentation as all the commands are documented in detail including examples which probably will answer all your questions.
