what is the Requirement of DirectPath I/O?

hi

i want to implement DirectPath I/O in my ESXi5.0. when i am trying to do, it is prompting me that

DirectPath I/O

status:     not supported.

i've enabled IOMMU in BIOS & also enabled IOMMU mode as 64MB but same issue.

while VM is in power off state it displays like this:

while VM is in power on state it displays like this:

can anyone guide me how to solve this issue? what is the requirement of DirectPath I/O?

my H/W config:

CPU: AMD FX-8120 (8 core, 3.1-4.0GHz,)

MB: ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0

Chipset: 990FX (NB) / SB950 (SB)

First you need to configure the device as pass through device on host and reboot. Only then you can add it to the VM

Make sure the device you are configure as pass though is the supported one
