what is an acceptable read/write latency on a virtual disk?

what is an acceptable read/write latency on a virtual disk? I have a figure in my head of 20ms threshhold, or 50ms threshhold(spikes) for SAN disks on physical hardware, what about VMs?

Hi,

I think the average or acceptable read/write latency on virtual disks should be around 5ms and not exceeding 10ms.

You could even check out the following community thread for more information

Hope the information is useful

We all have different thoughts on this one..  Smiley Happy

I actually remember the early days of SAN...   It was alwasy 15ms average or below is considered fine.

Short latency spikes can certainly happen here and there on most all iSCSI sans I have had experience with.

Hi xbradshr,

.

Hi it should be less than 10 ms is normal with rare peaks to 100-200 ms.
