Good afternoon,

To help you may need some information.

1-What is the version of your vCenter?

2-You are attempting to login for the first time in the web client?

If your version of vcenter is 5.0, 5.1 or 5.5, if you have already logged in vCenter.

The default port for logging in via web client would

https://ip vcenter: 9443/vsphere-client /

You do not need to put the machine name or domain (I do not know what you put there) and then administrator, is wrong.

Hello RanjnaAggarwal.

It seems to be an DNS issue. Check DNS using command nslookup and see what it is returning. Maybe it is not able to reach Domain Controller to authenticate, or It is not able to find vCenter through name in DNS.

I remember I had the same issue, I fix it just writing the vCenter Name and FQDN in hosts file.

     I hope I could help.

Hello RanjnaAggarwal

You are getting SSL certification failed because vCenter is not able to reach the correct address of SSL Certificate. Like I said before, this may be a problem of Name Resolution (DNS).

Although you use the 9443 port to connect directly to vCenter and access all its services, during the connection there are several verifications in different ports.

At least, check your DNS, it worked for me once.

Finishing here there are 3 links about this problem. I hope one of them helps you.

VMware vsplere web client failed to connect to VMware Lookup Service https://<IP address>:7444/lookupservice/sdk

I Just forgot to ask you:

Are you using Vmware Vcenter Appliance, or a regular vCenter with Windows Operating System?
