we have vmdisks with thin provision with Netapp nfsv3 where san disk space auto reclaim is not working. VMs migrated but still and now no data on volume but still space is showing as occupied. Any inputs on it pls. Ontap is 9.1

As of now there is no vm lying but NFS is still showing space as occupied. It should be auto free. pls share your inputs.

You have to check at the storage end or contact Netapp for this. I dont think at ESXi level we can do anything on NFS space reclamation.

vSphere doesn't have unmap for NFS indeed, this was done in the past by the NetApp vendor plugin, haven't looked at it in a while, but I assume it is still capable of doing this.

As others say ask netapp, but for a link as I got curious, I think you need the vsc(the netapp vcenter plugin) installed
