Hi,

are you gonna reuse the same external database?

Your VDS will continue to work without vCenter, as vCenter only offers the management part of the distributed switch.

The information necessary to do the networking is stored on a shared storage, so the hosts know what to do, even if the vCenter is not available.

The hosts will have a read only copy of the distributed switch so will continue to operate but there is a few unknowns here.

Are you wiping the database or just reinstalling vCenter?

If reinstalling you will be fine if you keep the existing database.  One thing I would suggest is you snapshot the vCenter server before you start and backup the databases.  Also if it is possible I would move the vcenter VM to a standard switch if you can as without vCenter you can't make any changes to add a vm to a distributed switch so if your Prod vLan is only available on the distributed switch you may have issues if you play around with any network settings of the vCenter Vm.

Hello,

I already made a backup of database and a spanshot of the VM. Also the vcenter VM is on a standard switch.

I am going to reinstall keeping the data that is already in database.

Thanks
