vsphere client 4.1 increase size of disk is greyed out.

Hello,

I have problem with my disk on ESX server. I have virtual machine running windows xp. Recently i found that i need increase size of Disk C. Alhough when i go edit settings on powered off virtual machine, the increase size of disk option is greyed out. I checked and sure that the disk has no snapshot and the block size of datastore allows me to increase it although the option is greyed out. Has anyone got any idea about it?

Thank you in advance

Incresing the disk size is not supported for IDE virtual disks like in your case.

You can workaround this by temporarily setting the IDE disk to a SCSI disk like this:

Delete the snapshots.

update: oh thats IDE do as he suggest you. And remember that once u increase the disk size you have to increase the partition from the OS with any disk utility.
