vsphere Licensing (same key at two sites)

Dear All,

We would like to understand case where we have esxi keys for covering 16 CPU's, We have two product keys for vcenter (for main site and DR site. For the case of Esxi license if we are using same key at TWO sites BUT as below:

- two esxi hosts with total 8 CPU at main site

- two esxi hosts with total 8 CPU at DR site

As described above it will sum up to 16 total CPU's and we are not exceeding the count but using same key, without splitting the key can we use as described? Can anyone please clarify with reference?

Your licenses are perpetual so you can attach them how you see fit, as long as you stay compliant and do not re-use the key for more sockets than you are licensed for. If you're more comfortable with this approach you should be able to log into my.vmware.com and "split" your license key into 2 keys of 8 sockets each, granted you have access to licensing in the portal.
