vmware tools unrecoverable error vthread-3

Running ESXi 5.5. Host server cannot upgrade to 6.7 too old.

Created a 2016 server working fine.

Had to set MAC to a predefined address because of a third party license requirement. All posted process to assign static MAC did not work someone gave me the following setting to make the license work:

monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "true"

monitor_control.virtual_rdtsc = "false"

monitor_control.disable_directexec = "true"

Then set MAC in the image's network card configuration.

After doing so can't get image to boot cleanly with out the error message. The system appears to work. This error prevents the vmtools to upgrade or uninstall/re-install.

Can clear the error message if I rebuild the *vmx* file anew.

Not sure if there are any log for the *VMware tools* setup or other logs to look at.

Can you check the virtual machine log file?

Yes, did not find an answer.

The environment I'm using does not match. I assume the issue is based on my static addressing process I used.
