Hello everyone
Need a help
We have a mixed esxi environment vcenter 7.03, 1 esxi in 7.03 ver, and other 3 in 6.5 and 6.7 versions. Currently VMware released vmtool ver 12.1.0 to mitigate a vulnerability. When using lifecycle manager to update vmtools on all VMS , only baseling can be created for esxi ver 7. We need to update all our VMS in esxi ver6.5 and 6.7. we cannot go for esxi 6.5/6.7 upgrade to 7 now. Any other way to update vmtool 12.1.0 on all esxi 6.5/6.7 version vms
Thanks in advance

Not working. After check compliance on esxi 6.5 the vmtool upgrade is still showing as old version and uptodate
The other alternative would be to download the vmware tool setup file from vmware download center and update the VMware tools manually on each VMs.
Hope that helps.
Hi,
A side note, the latest build of the "VMware Tools" may require an update to the "Microsoft Visual C ++ runtime" and thus this involves performing a restart of the guest operating system for the prior installation of the said "runtime".

Thanks for the answer.
We have a lot of VMs, so manually will be tedious task . Looking for to update vmtool inside esxi 6.5 vmtools image , if possible
We are having the exact same issue with our mixed 7.0 and 6.7 environment. Has there been any progress?

pls kutos, if solution accept it,
Needed to remediate VMware Tools update addresses a local privilege escalation vulnerability (CVE-2022-31676) in a mixed host (6.7 & 7) environment with in a vcsa7 instance. Was only able to locate 12.1.0 for ESXi 7 & 8 via LCM. Not sure why it wasn't available for 6.7.
Creating a VMware tools repository on a shared DS that our remaining 6.7 hosts could hit sufficed for now until we can schedule upgrades. Some VMs needed a reboot before the tools upgraded successfully. Ended up scheduling the VMtools upgrades at the tail end of a recent patch cycle which worked out well.
