vmsyslog.logger ERROR : OSError

1) Customer uses ESXi 5.5 and I am sure 6.x would have same issue too.

Just one day, local disk read rate is sky rocketing 1.4MBps to 40MBps.

So look into the issue and found

/var/log/.vmsyslogd.err    contains following Error messages.

found 'exceptions.MemoryError' but could not find OSError.

2) Anyone have bug report on this ? what is OSError mean?

Hello.
The first thing is to check the internal hardware log on the server, most servers have an internal management device (ILO, ASMI, IDRAC .. and more) that allows you to check logs and other tasks without stopping.

The second thing is space, you should check the space on your ESXi host.
Log into the ESXi host with an SSH connection and execute the following commands:
df -h

vdf

vmware -v

Finally the level of patches installed.
The Version 5 is very very old and out of support, the latest patch stack is ESXi550-201809001 (build 9919047), it is recommended that you apply it.
For version 6.0 the latest patch stack is ESXi600-202002001 (Build 15517548).

Attached link where you can get them, if you don't have user for the web site, you can register for free.

1) vdf -h, df -h  : do not show any lack of space.

2) I know and customer know the version is old and out of service, customer have plan for upgrade with replacing hardware 2022.

3) Customer want to have bug report or KB for vmsyslogd failed to rotate logs. So looking for it and haven't found it, vmware support also said they can't give me bug report for it.

4) /var/log/.vmsyslogd.err : MemoryError - this have KB on vmware site but not ".vmsyslogd.err:OSError" - so looking for one.

Thank you very much for the reply by all means, really appreciated.
