vmkernel management network

hi,

i am using veeam to backup our esxi environment.  at the moment i am using the appliance mode but would also like the option of failing back to the network.  veeam then uses the management network (esxi network stack) to backup the servers.

my issue is that our existing management network is 192.16.1.X on vlan 5 and our backup network is 192.168.10.X on vlan 9.  i dont want the backup traffic running on our existing management network so i have created a second management network (vmkernal) on 192.168.10.X network.  The problem is that when i add the 2nd management network pinging the original ip address fails.... is it ok to have 2 management networks to seperate the backup traffic?

thanks
