vmkernel: Memory Controller Error

Hi All,

We are currently testing ESXI 4.1 (not HP with SIM) (installed on SD card) on HP DL380 G6 with local store running 4 hosts (mix of Linux and Windows)

Just recently I've noticed the follwing problem:

http://communities.vmware.com/message/1687510

so i checked logs (messages) and came across messages like this:

Mar  3 10:28:36 vmkernel: 47:20:48:48.504 cpu0:4112)MCE: 1367: Status bits: "Memory Controller Error."

Mar  4 10:32:24 vmkernel: 48:20:52:36.004 cpu0:4112)MCE: 1367: Status bits: "Memory Controller Error."

Mar  5 10:36:12 vmkernel: 49:20:56:23.503 cpu0:4112)MCE: 1367: Status bits: "Memory Controller Error."

Mar  7 10:43:47 vmkernel: 51:21:03:58.525 cpu1:4097)MCE: 1367: Status bits: "Memory Controller Error."

Mar  6 10:39:59 vmkernel: 50:21:00:11.003 cpu0:4112)MCE: 1367: Status bits: "Memory Controller Error."

Does it mean that we have hardware failure?

Thank you.

The HP offline bundles for ESXi 4.1 include contain specific CIM providers for HP hardware and a custom IPMI driver.  That updated driver and the CIM providers may give you more insight into this issue.  It may be that you're getting a false alert. For ESXi 4.1 - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&swItem=MTX-b1...
