vmk3 showing standby iscsi

I have to vmnics bound to an iscsi software adapter

vmnic2,3

however, one of them is showing standby and one active.

I checked that both ips are pingable and can ping the iscsi appliance.

any idea why?

This is because of the multipathing policy you are using on the LUNs/storage. Usually happens with MRU (Most Recently Used) policy and active/pasive arrays. Is not a problem, if this is your case everything is fine.

Is your storage active/active and supported for RR at VMware HCL? On the datastore, at "Manage Paths" do all paths shows as "Active"?

yes it active/active. It is on the vmware hcl list. Its the dell md3200i iscsi appliance. right clicking on the datatore sshows only 1 path active and one standby.

Well.... checking HCL only MRU is supported:

Have you verified this with Dell?

Also don't believe this is active/active if it uses ALUA and MRU.
