viewer for mac or windows to see the file stucture of esxi OSH

HI GUYS

would you be so kind as to help.

I am wanting to see the file system view from either my mac or windows based client.

I know and am using VMwarevsphere client to manage the virtual machines but.

what about viewing them externaly, or if i put the esxi server drive in and external caddy to view via mac or windows?

I have tired and only see the esxi operating system no view of the datastore and vmdk files

My objective is to find the vmdk files and copy them/ for backup safe keep.

now i know there has been a whole discussion on backups but unless your a linux guru or want to spend thousands of dollars then thats not me.

OBJECTIVE

I Need a simple way to view and save the four VMDK files i have on my working server.

The ESXi file systems is not natively viewable by MAC, Linux, or Windows but it is easy to save off the virtual machine files. You can poweroff the virtual machine and browse the datastore via the vSphere Client and then download the folder for each VM. You can use a tool like Veeam FastSCPhttp://veeam.com or Winscp to copy the powered off VM files. Here is a script you can use to create copies http://blog.peacon.co.uk/wiki/Esxi-control.pl
