vicfg-vmknic and vicfg-vswitch not available?

I have (2) ESX 4.1 servers. Neither one allows vicfg-vmknic or vicfg-vswitch commands to work from command line -- yet the iSCSI guide tells me to use those... Issuing those commands results in "command not found".

esxcfg-vswitch and esxcfg-vmknic commands BOTH work fine...

Any idea why?

vicfg-* commands can be issued at the commandline of the vMA.

the commands in question are for the vCLI specific and are run remotely. If connected directly to the console use the esxcfg commands
