.vhd on esxi or convert

Hello,

I have a couple of older Hyper-V hosts. I am replacing the hardware and I'd much rather run VMWare. To do so, I see 2 paths:

1). Convert the hyper-v vms to vmware vms. Issue with this is that vmware converter is off the shelf. Is there an alternative available? Either 3rd part or something else within vmware?

2). Transfer the .vhd files into esxi and simply run them as .vhd files. Are there any documentation to do this? Is this prone to issues?

They will be fairly small hosts and only 9 VMs in general. I am probably going to get the vsphere essentials kit.

Any feedback, discussion, comments, etc would be appreciated.

An alternative to VMware's Converter is the free StarWind Converter.
