Have a question about the UUID in VMWare.
If I understand right - the VC.UUID is the UUID that changes when a machine is moved to a new cluster, imported from disk, etc - and the user is prompted about moving it or copying it. Does the same apply for the UUID.bios?
Bascially - what I'm curious about is a question for asset inventory tracking. I'm looking for an identifier that can be pulled and remain unchanged if the VM is removed/added to inventory, etc.
I understand that cloning a machine wouldn't apply in these cases and that all new UUID's would be generate - I'm talking about just the same machine moving around happily in the course of it's virtual day
