Dear All,
I see network port flapping where a VM is configured with 2 nic, one in a port group (VLAN XXX) e one in another port group (VLAN YYY) on the same vSwitch (standard).
The configuration is:
A single vSwitch (standard) with 3 uplink/vminc connected to the distribution switches (2 CISCO in stack), where is see port flapping,
The vSwitch Load Balancing configuration is: Route based on the originating virtual port ID
For some reason the Load Balancing policy is not working as I expect:
Packets from the VM at nic 1 must always use vmincX
Packets from the VM at nic 2 must always use vmincY
But instead the situation is:
Packets from the VM at nic 1 use vminX and sometime vmnicY
Packets from the VM at nic 2 use vminY and sometime vmnicX
(This made the CISCO switches notify me about port flapping...)
There is a fix or something that I miss ?
N.B.: The Workaround for me was:
- Change on the vSwitch the Load Balancing policy to: Routed based on IP hash
- Disable on the vSwitch the failback.
- Configure the 3 port on the 2 CISCO swith in stack with EtherChannel
