vSphere role settings and VmWare Workstation access

Hello all, I am having some troubles configuring a role with privileges to give access only to a single machine (power on/off, restart and vm console). I have created a new role with "Virtual machine" flagged and "Tasks" flagged in the "EDIT ROLE" interface. Then I assigned this role to one user per one virtual machine.

What happens is that if I try to use the vSphere Client (5.1.0) I can connect to the server, I will see only that VM and I can manage it. Perfect.

Unfortunately, if I try to do the same through the VMWare Workstation (version 9, 10 or 11) I can still login to the vSphere server, and I will still see listed only the machine I have permissions on, but I cannot load (or shut down or start up) it in console view. The answer is:

---

Could not open virtual machine: 6

Permission to perform this operation was denied.

---

The error number seems to be randomic (1, 6, 41, 42...) but the sentence is always the same.

Which permissions should I add to the role to make the connection through VmWare Workstation work?

Thanks,

Emanuele

Up. Has nobody ever built a single-access role to a VM on a vSphere server?

Thanks,

Emanuele
