vSphere client 5.5 and Windows 8

In several forums I read people reporting problems while installing the vSphere 5.5 client on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 clients.

Is the vSphere 5.5 client I can download from an ESXi 5.5 host compatible with Windows 8 and Windows 8.1?

If so, is there any specific requirement on the Windows client?

If not, where can I download a vSphere client to manage and ESXi 5.5 host suitable to be installed on a Windows 8 or in a Windows 8.1 client?

Hi Marius,

I use the vSphere 5.5 client on my Win 8.1 Pro notebook without any issues ... installed first time and never had a problem with it.

Remember if you want all the new features available then you need to use the web client.

There is just one vsphere client. It is not not released per OS. After you install your ESXi server you will need to point your browser(from a computer which can reach your ESXi) to http://<esxi-ip> and it will let you download the vSphere client. This will give you a version that is compatible with your EWSXi host. As far as the windows version is concerned it should run on all the windows servers except the old ones like xp and 2003.

There are no special requirements from the OS side. You can actually try installing and get back to us if you run into issues.
