Hi,

as far as I know there are no differences.

But as said before for features like DRS HA you need vcenter license.

Hi,

esxi is for free, you need just to register.

If you want to use vcenter functions you need to buy a fully vcenter license.

Also look here.

Hi,

Thank you for your answer.

My question is like are there separate editions like Enterprise, Essential, Advanced...etc for ESX4i also.

As we know we have many editions for ESX4.

Thanks,

All licenses allow you to choose to install ESX or ESXi. There is no difference in licensing or price. You can have a mixture of licensed ESX and ESXi managed by the same vCenter server. You can choose to switch from ESX to ESXi or ESXi to ESX using the same license.

The differenct between each edition is only the license.

If you running in evaluation you have a ESX or ESXi Enterprise Plus Edition.

When you add the licence you will have the right edition that you have payied Smiley Happy
