vSphere Center and ESXi Trial

Hello,

In Download VMware vSphere [1] section, when choosing to download ESXi or vServer 7.x, there is no such [2] warning that I don't have permission to download, and it allows to download version 7.x

But when selected version 8.x, there is that [2] warning. The trial is for 2 months.

I've just installed ESXi 7.x and I don't see any messages that it's a trial product.

Question: Is vSphere proucts 7x usable after two months? Or where to check if it's a trial product?

Also, is there such thing as "personal/non commercial use" license for these products to use indefinitely?

The vSphere Suite (e.g. vCenter Server, ...) - like other VMware products - is available for a 60 day evaluation period.

However, you can register for a free ESXi Hypervisor license key at https://customerconnect.vmware.com/en/evalcenter?p=free-esxi8 for personal, and even commercial use. Remember that the free license has only limited features.

PS: Here's the URL for v7.0: https://customerconnect.vmware.com/en/evalcenter?p=free-esxi7

Great, thank you!! I was able to import free license.

Just a same question on vServer/Center - is there similar such free license like for ESXi?

vSphere licenses are for ESXi hosts, you pay for these.

vCenter licenses are for vCenter Server instances, you pay for these.

You can run the products with no license at all for up to 60 days.

vSphere Hypervisor licenses are for ESXi hosts, these are free for non-commercial use - there is no such equivalent license for vCenter Server.

If you want to run the products in a home lab, the cheapest way is probably to buy VMUG Advantage every 12 months: https://www.vmug.com/membership/vmug-advantage-membership/
