vSphere 6.7 - does the firewall block any traffic to VMs ?

We have an ESXI installation where our mailserver in a VM seems to not receive on certain ports.

SMTP and IMAP are received without problems but POP3 and another port are forwarded by our external firewall to the mailserver IP but do not seem to arrive.

Does vSphere block any ports in its firewall that we might have to open ?

Thanks !

No the esxi firewall is just for the esxi host itsself, any guest vms aren't affected by it.

No, the ESXi firewall only applies to VMkernel traffic - management, storage, vMotion - not to VM traffic.
