vSphere 5

We just recently bought a copy of vSphere 5 and upgraded one of our ESX 4.1 servers up to ESX 5. Everything seemed fine until I tried to add a new iscsi datastore. As soon as I started working with the iscsi connections the server itself crashed. I thought it might just be bad luck and I had a corrupt upgrade, but this evening one of the fresh ESX 5 installs I have at my datacenter looks like it just went belly up when I was working with the iscsi connections.

Has anyone else experienced host crashes when working with iscsi connections? I have 3 more 4.1 servers to upgrade and one more fresh ESX 5 install at my datacenter. Since we are moving all of our VM's to iscsi datastores I really can't move forward with ver 5 until I figure out what this is.

The two servers that crashed were Dell Poweredge 710's. If you need more information I'll do my best to get what you need.

Hope someone can help.

Regards,

Aric Wilisch

You need to make sure that your storage and HBAs (if using hardware HBAs) is on the HCL and if it is, at the appropriate firmware levels.  You can check here:  http://www.vmware.com/go/hcl
