vSphere 4.1 SIOC Active Time Percentage

Hi All,

vSphere 5.1 has a performance counter for SIOC Active Time Percentage, is there an equivalent in 4.1.  SIOC is confgired in our 4.1 environemnt but I would like information on times and dates when it's been active.

Many thanks

you can go to datastore view -> choose your datastore performance tab and view: performance

You should see Storage I/O Control Normalized Latency (in microseconds) somewhere in the diagrams. Once the threshold you have configured is hit by your latency the SIOC mechanism will kicks in.

You should than see an adjustment in the device-queue diagram.

That's afaik the only counter you can use in vSphere 4.1

go in the vSphere client to Administration -> vCenter Server Settings -> Statistics and change the collection level to 2 for your selected observation period (take of the database size if you use SQL-express)

you should than be able to monitor to values for each host for the past period. I'm not sure how you can monitor it for all hosts in one view at the moment.
