vMotion without Shared Storage

With Hyper-V, --AND WITHOUT SHARED STORAGE--  I have the option of doing Live Migrations of a VM (and the storage itself) from Physical Host-A to Physical Host-B.  So basically, vMotion, without a SAN.    What options are available to move VMs (vMotion/Storage vMotion) between hosts in VMWare, without shared storage, and what licensing is needed?

Basically, imagine 2 host servers, no shared storage (SAN).  Can vMotion and Storage vMotion be done somehow?

You will need vSphere 5.1 with vCenter and use the vSphere Web Client to do shared nothing vMotion, see: Leveraging VMware's Enhanced Shared-Nothing vMotion - Wahl Network

So vCenter will be a requirement?  Meaning at *LEAST* VMWare Essentials package?

Unless I'm missing something, you will need at least Essentials Plus, since Essentials do not include vMotion feature, see: Server Virtualization with VMware vSphere

You'll need at least "Essentials Plus" licensing for this.

Essentials Plus?  Yikes.  That stinks. Smiley Sad   Hyper-V does this easily at basically no cost.
